Abstract

Kegiatan pengabdian kepada masyarakat ini merupakan tindak lanjut dari pelatihan pembuatan media pembelajaran berbahan limbah padat pada kegiatan sebelumnya. Tujuannya untuk 1) meningkatkan kesadaran dan keterampilan mahasiswa serta masyarakat dalam memilah sampah, (2) meningkatkan pemahaman tentang jenis sampah yang layak untuk media pembelajaran fisika, sehingga mereka dapat menyiapkan bahan yang tepat untuk digunakan dalam pembuatan media pembelajaran eco-friendly pada kegiatan selanjutnya, serta (3) membangun kolaborasi mahasiswa dan masyarakat dalam kegiatan lingkungan.  Berdasarkan beberapa penelitian, penggunaan media pembelajaran terbukti meningkatkan minat belajar anak-anak karena memberikan pengalaman belajar yang nyata, menarik, dan menyenangkan. Oleh karena itu, pelatihan ini bertujuan untuk meningkatkan kesadaran dan keterampilan mahasiswa Pendidikan Fisika dalam memilah sampah sebelum dimanfaatkan sebagai media pembelajaran. Metode pelaksanaan meliputi sosialisasi mengenai jenis sampah organik dan anorganik, pelatihan pemilahan sampah berdasarkan karakteristiknya, serta pendampingan praktik pemilahan sampah di lingkungan kampus. Hasil kegiatan menunjukkan adanya peningkatan pemahaman mahasiswa tentang pentingnya memilah sampah, terutama dalam menyiapkan bahan yang aman, bersih, dan sesuai standar untuk digunakan sebagai media pembelajaran fisika. Kegiatan ini juga menumbuhkan kepedulian lingkungan pada mahasiswa dan mempersiapkan mereka untuk memanfaatkan sampah terpilah secara efektif dalam pembuatan media pembelajaran pada kegiatan selanjutnya. Luaran kegiatan ini adalah meningkatnya pengetahuan mahasiswa tentang pemilahan sampah, keterampilan memilah sampah secara tepat, serta terciptanya lingkungan kampus yang lebih bersih dan ramah lingkungan. Kegiatan pengabdian kepada masyarakat ini mengisi kesenjangan penelitian  tentang pemilahan sampah. Sebab banyak penelitian yang membahas pembuatan media ajar dari limbah, tetapi sedikit yang fokus pada tahap awal yang sangat penting, yaitu pemilahan sampah sebagai fondasi pembuatan media ajar.
