Evaluasi Kesesuaian Lahan dan Kelayakan Ekonomi Tanaman Lada (Piper Nigrum L.) di Kabupaten Luwu

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menentukan kesesuaian lahan untuk tanaman lada di Kabupaten Luwu dan menentukan faktor-faktor pembatas dan tindakan perbaikan lahan bagi pengembangan tanaman lada serta menganalisis kelayakan ekonomi usaha tani lada di Kabupaten Luwu. Penelitian ini dilaksanakan di Kecamatan Bupon Kabupaten Luwu. Analisa contoh tanah dilakukan di Laboraturium Tanah Jurusan Ilmu Tanah Fakultas Pertanian Universitas Hasanuddin Makassar. Analisa kesesuaian lahan dengan kriteria kesesuaian lahan berdasarkan FAO (1976). Tahap penelitian meliputi tahap persiapan, pembuatan peta, survei lapang dan wawancara, analisa sampel tanah di laboratorium, analisa kesesuaian lahan dan analisis usahatani. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan kelas kesesuaian lahan aktual pada daerah penelitian adalah. Kelas S3 (Sesuai Marginal) terdapat di unit lahan I, II, IV,VII Kelas S2 (Cukup sesuai ) terdapat pada unit lahan III,V,VI dan VIII. Faktor pembatas yang dominan yaitu media perakaran, retensi hara, hara tersedia, dan tingkat bahaya erosi. Selain itu Lada memiliki peluang pengembangan yang cukup menguntungkan yang ditunjukkan dengan nilai R/C ratio pada lahan aktual dan kesesuaian lahan potensial adalah layak dengan nilai R/C ratio pada kesesuaian lahan S2 adalah 35,6 dan pada kesesuaian lahan S3 adalah 22,15 “ Sangat layak” (menguntungkan) bagi usahatani lada pada lahan potensial.
