Penyuluhan pertanian merupakan pendidikan non formal bagi petani beserta keluarganya yang meliputi kegiatan dalam ahli pengetahuan dan ketrampilan dari penyuluh lapangan kepada petani dan keluarganya berlangsung melalui proses belajar mengajar. Penyuluhan pertanian harus ahli pertanian yang berkompeten, disamping bisa berkomunikasi secara efektif dengan petani sehingga dapat mendorong minat belajar mereka dan harus berorientasi pada masalah yang dihadapi oleh petani, sesuai dengan kenyataan dan pemahaman mereka. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui Peranan Penyuluh Pertanian Dalam Peningkatan Usahatani padi (Oryza Sativa L) di Desa Pong Samelung Kecamatan Luwu Kabupaten Luwu. Penelitian ini menggunakan jenis pendekatan deskriptif kualitatif. Data yang diperoleh melalui tahap observasi, wawancara dan dokumentasi yang dianalisis dengan menggunakan model analisis interaktif. Pengambilan sampel dilakukan secara acak (random sampling). Penelitian ini menggunakan dua data yaitu data skunder dan data primer yang diperoleh melalui pengamatan langsung dengan menggunakan instrumen penelitian. Hasil penilitian ini menunjukan bahwa kegiatan Peranan Penyuluh Pertanian Dalam Peningkatan Usahatani padi di Desa Pong Samelung Kecamatan Lamasi Kabupaten Luwu adalah: (1) dapat meningkatan koordinasi antara penyuluh dan petani (2) untuk menumbuhkan rasa kepercayaan petani kepada penyuluh (3) meningkatkan wawasan dan ilmu pengetahuan tentang pertanian modern (4) menjadi wadah atau sarana bagi petani dalam menyampaikan keluhan atau kendala yang sedang dialami saat melakukan kegiatan usahatani (5) peran aktif penyuluh dan petani dalam peningkatan usahatani padi.
